Jonathan Clark Green has over thirty years of legal experience in both the public and private sectors, in both federal and state courts. Jonathan is currently a Supervising Attorney in the City of Chicago Department of Law, where he engages in civil litigation, having tried a number of jury trials to verdict. Jonathan works to improve transparency and accountability at the City as the Liaison City Attorney for the new Civilian Office of Police Accountability (COPA) in court proceedings, protecting the integrity of investigations of police misconduct at the agency and assisting in the implementation of the City’s new consent decree. A long-time chair-certified arbitrator for the mandatory arbitration program of the Circuit Court of Cook County, Jonathan has practiced in nearly all divisions of the Circuit Court of Cook County throughout his career. In the private sector, Jonathan also worked both to recognize and enforce child support and maintenance payments and to protect defrauded senior citizens as a Special Assistant Attorney General working in securities fraud litigation.
Together with his wife Monica, Jonathan volunteers with Little City Foundation for the developmentally disabled, and with Top Box Foods, distributing fresh produce in communities with limited access to healthy and affordable food.
Prior to joining the Corporation Counsel’s Office, Jonathan was in private practice as Principal of Green & Green, P.C. and Of Counsel to Rock, Fusco & Garvey, Ltd. Jonathan is a former Assistant Attorney General in the Office of the Illinois Attorney General, where he engaged in civil litigation in both federal and state courts, representing state employees and the constitutionality of state statutes. He has also served on the legal staff of the Illinois House of Representatives, reviewing and drafting legislation. A graduate, with distinction, of The Georgetown University Law Center’s master’s degree program in international and comparative law, Jonathan has also had diverse backgrounds in international litigation and transactional matters. Jonathan was a fellow of the American Society of International Law in Washington, D.C., where he worked with lawyers and government officials from around the world, and has previously worked in private practice both in Brussels and Chicago for European, Asian and American clients.
Jonathan received his J.D. degree from the IIT/Chicago-Kent College of Law and his B.A. degree from Columbia University in New York. He also attended courses at the London School of Economics. He is a member of the Illinois and District of Columbia bars, as well as the Federal Trial Bar.
A partner in our community
Active in various charities in the Chicago area, Jonathan is an advisory member of the Board of Directors of the Little City Foundation for the developmentally disabled, where he is guardian for two of his siblings. He is also president of his 203-unit condominium association in Chicago’s Lake View community, and a volunteer with his wife Monica for Top Box Foods, providing fresh foods for Chicago’s neediest communities. A long-time member of the Chicago-Paris Sister Cities Committee, Jonathan is also a member of the South East and Central Lake View Neighbors Associations, the Lake View Citizens Council, the Wrightwood Neighbors Association in Lincoln Park, and is a supporter of the East Lake View Neighbors’ Association. A native Chicagoan born on the Northwest side and graduate of Saint Ignatius High School, Jonathan has been a resident of the Lake View community for twenty years. Jonathan is currently the 1st Vice-President of the Advocates Society, Chicago’s Association of Polish-American attorneys, and is a member and supporter of the Decalogue Society of Jewish Attorneys, the Women’s Bar Association of Illinois, and the Chicago and Illinois State Bar Associations.
